The dress showcased a semi-transparent tulle bustier that displayed several of the singer's tattoos, and featured a voluminous pleated skirt embellished with a sparkling Greek motif at the front.
Gaga paired the outfit with a goth glam aesthetic, donning sultry eye makeup and bold red lipstick. Additionally, she wore Tiffany & Co. jewelry, including stud earrings, a ring, a bracelet, and a vintage platinum necklace from the luxury brand's archives.
Donatella Versace's Fall-Winter 2023 collection was inspired by the 90s and featured slick, black tailoring and nods to the house's iconic history, such as the Medusa hardware debuted in 1995. Gaga's dress was notably similar to the hourglass shaped tailoring, which has been a favorite silhouette of Versace since the 1990s.
During her entrance to the event, Gaga rushed to help a photographer who had taken a fall. She was also seen embracing "The Banshees of Inisherin" actor Brendan Gleeson and posing for photos with her nominated song's co-producer and co-writer, Michael Tucker, who goes by the name BloodPop.
Later, when Gaga took the stage to perform "Hold My Hand," she kept things simple with an all-black ensemble consisting of a black T-shirt, ripped jeans, and a pair of Converse sneakers. She also removed her makeup for a more natural look.
Gaga is no stranger to awards shows, having been nominated three times for Best Original Song, winning once for "Shallow" from "A Star is Born." She is also one of the few people to receive nominations in both music and acting categories, having been nominated for her lead performance in the same movie. At this year's Oscars, she was up against Rihanna, who co-wrote "Lift Me Up" from "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," but both lost to "Naatu Naatu" from the Telugu-language film "RRR."
