Warning: The ensuing write-up contains spoilers about the second season of Harlem, which aired on Amazon Prime Video.
Disregard the trite "Who's your daddy?" phrase for a moment, for Harlem Season 2 has left us pondering over a more intriguing question - "Who's with child?" (Admittedly, the latter inquiry lacks a catchy ring to it, but we can blame Jerry Springer for that!)
In a momentous cliffhanger that culminated Season 2 of Harlem, one of the show's core four women has been revealed to be pregnant. The suspenseful reveal has left viewers in a tizzy, eagerly anticipating answers to the million-dollar question - who is the expectant mother? Will Harlem Season 3 put an end to the riddle?
Here's what we do know:
The Core Four Women of 'Harlem'
The identity of the pregnant woman in 'Harlem' remains a mystery, even to the cast members. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Meagan Good, who portrays Camille, divulged that the writers have kept everyone in the dark about the pregnancy revelation. "When we got this final reveal of the last episode, we literally were like, 'Which one of us is it?'" she said.
Jerrie Johnson, who portrays Tye, has a strong preference of who she hopes isn't the one with child. "I can say I do not want it to be Tye... Tye has been through enough!" she declared in the same interview.
Tracy Oliver, the creator of Harlem, was also present during the interview. However, she remained tight-lipped about the identity of the mother-to-be, despite the cast's conjectures.
So, when can we expect answers about the pregnant character in Harlem Season 3? Has Amazon Prime Video renewed the series for another season?
Has Amazon Prime Video Renewed 'Harlem' for Season 3?
As of now, Amazon Prime Video has not renewed Harlem for a third season. Nonetheless, fans of Harlem need not worry just yet. After the debut of Harlem Season 1 in December 2021, it took Amazon Prime Video a couple of months to confirm the renewal of the show for a second season.
Furthermore, when showrunners conclude a season with an unresolved cliffhanger, it is typically a positive indication that they are confident in the show's renewal and can answer lingering questions in subsequent seasons.
Sadly, Harlem Season 2 only had eight episodes in total, two less than the first season. But fans can stream both seasons on Amazon Prime Video while awaiting news about Harlem Season 3.
The next question then becomes, if Harlem is renewed for another season, when can we expect new episodes? (And, more importantly, the answer to the burning question - who is pregnant?)
A quick look at the timeline of the last two seasons of Harlem might provide some insight. Harlem Season 1 premiered in December 2021, and news of its renewal for a second season was confirmed in February 2022. The second season then aired in February 2023, roughly a year later. If we receive news in two months about Harlem Season 3, we might expect to see it on our screens sometime in early 2024.
Can you endure such a long wait for answers about the pregnant character in Harlem? While we anticipate the arrival of Season 3, we can rewatch Harlem Seasons 1 and 2 on Amazon Prime Video, searching for clues to the mystery. Hopefully, Harlem Season 3 will grace our screens before we know it!
